WORK SESSION MINUTES
NOVEMBER 18, 2014
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the main courtroom of the Gordon County Courthouse.
Chairman Hood called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed the agenda items for the Regular Meeting and made no changes or additions.
County Clerk Berry presented the Board with the 2015 proposed Board Meeting Schedule and called attention to April’s two meeting dates that were possible dates the Board may want to consider changing. Following discussion, there was a consensus of the Board to change the April 7, 2015 meeting to April 14, 2015. The remainder of the year’s schedule remained the same with no changes.
County Administrator King discussed the Board’s 2015 Retreat location and inquired of the Board members if they wanted to schedule the retreat location at a State park or at the Clarence Harris Center in Cartersville. The consensus of the Board was to schedule the Retreat at a State Park sometime in March 2015.
Mr. Don Holley, Director for Parks and Recreation, came before the Board to give an update of activities the Recreation Department has been involved in over the summer, and events coming up in the fall. Numerous regional tournaments for baseball were sought after and were awarded to the Gordon County Recreation Department this summer; and over 400 youth basketball registrants are scheduled for recreational basketball at the Department starting this month. Director Holley commended the Sonoraville School leaders for their cooperation in joining with the Recreation Department in exchanges of sport facilities between the two in the last sports seasons and advised that the Recreation Department was open to sharing its facilities with the school.
Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to close the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded and all voted aye. There being no further business the Work Session adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
