12/01/09 Work Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Administration Building Conference Room.

Chairman Long called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the Agenda for the Regular Meeting and one item was added to the Agenda during the meeting.

Gordon County Young Farmers Association President, Sam Payne and Young Farmers Advisor, Barry Bailey spoke to the Board concerning their agricultural projects in Gordon County.

Lori Rossin with the Voluntary Action Center gave a report on the Center’s activities this year and requested additional funding due to the need for more help to families in economic need this year. There was a consensus of the Board to consider the request at their next meeting.

The Board discussed a request from LG Hausys America for a letter of commitment from the County for $200,000 cash or in-kind benefits for their project of a new plant in the County. There was a consensus of the Board to add this item to the agenda.

Mr. Butch Layson came before the Board to express his concerns and problems with the property re-evaluation and taxes.

Commissioner Bailey made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Gordon seconded and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
