Regular Meeting
Vice Chairman Weldon called the meeting to order at approximately 5:30 p.m.; welcoming all in attendance. Minutes from October 7, 2013 meeting were presented for review and approval. Alvin Long made motion to approve minutes; seconded by Jeff Henderson. All voted aye.
Unfinished Business
Secretary Padgett distributed a copy of Northwest Georgia HPC contacts to all members (contact list filed with minutes).
Brief discussion to having an email contact list set up between Gordon County HPC along with the other Northwest Georgia HPC on the distributed contact list.
Ursula stated she would get with IT Department and have them set up email.
Jeff Henderson stated he would contact Chickamauga City Planner, John Culpepper, in regards to upcoming 150th anniversary of battle.
Alvin Long questioned involvement with upcoming 150th battle anniversary. Jeff Henderson stated Friends of Resaca will be actively involved.
Betty Ann Surdykowski stated she will set up a meeting between HPC, Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society and Friends of Resaca to discuss upcoming 150th anniversary.
Ursula questioned HPC on park usage guidelines were ever established. Commission briefly discussed park usage guidelines.
New Business
Ursula Desrosier and HPC members briefly discussed notification letter received from Georgia Department of Transportation in reference to bridge on Highway 156. A copy of letter was distributed to HPC members. (Letter filed with minutes)
Jeff Henderson made motion for HPC to not respond to Georgia Department of Transportation; seconded by Alvin Long. All voted aye.
Jeff Henderson gave brief update on clean up Gideon Cemetery. He stated Matt Landry has cleaned all block at cemetery and began laying new block last Saturday, members of church is also helping lay block. Jeff Henderson has also gained some private donations to help with clean up cemetery.
Bids for former doll room, currently W.E. Brown Conference Room, are currently being accepted for removal of doll cases, leaving east alcove doll cases in the room.
Vice Chairman Weldon stated Jim Lay has proposed a series of luncheons/lectures in regards to the 150th anniversary to be held in the newly renovated conference room.
Jeff Henderson and Vice Chairman Weldon informed HPC members that representatives from Applebee’s, who will be decorating the new restaurant, requested historic photographs from the Historical Society to be used in a mural at the new Applebee’s Restaurant. Vice Chairman Weldon stated 20-25 photographs were forwarded to them.
Alvin Long stated he received an email from Skip McNutt in reference to a grant available for a mural painting of the Great Locomotive Chase. HPC briefly discussed grant.

Next scheduled meeting is January 6, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:00 p.m.
