APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Jerry Lovelace to approve the minutes of the previous meeting of November 14, 2016. Nathan Serritt seconded the motion. All voted aye. The minutes were approved as written.
REZONING APPLICATION #Z16-26, STANLEY SIMPSON
Chairman Rule read rezoning application #Z16-26, Stanley Simpson requesting to rezone a 1.47 acre tract located at 5200 Fairmount Hwy., SE, Calhoun from A-1 to CH. Mr. Simpson represented the request explaining he had tried to sell the property, but because the existing duplex that was on the property was in such bad shape he didn’t have any luck and now he had a potential buyer that would like to operate a used car sales business and use the duplex as office space if he could obtain the rezoning. After Mr. Simpson heard what the Georgia D.O.T. would require if a commercial driveway was needed and that a permit would need to be sent to GDOT for approval, he requested that the application for rezoning be tabled so that he could find out the cost involved and/or other options. All adjoining property owners had been notified.
Butch Layson made the motion to table the rezoning application identified as #Z16-26 until the January 9, 2017 meeting as requested by the applicant. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The rezoning application #Z16-26 was tabled until the January 9, 2017 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
The matter to still be discussed was the issue on Section 5.02.00 Accessory Uses and Structures and Section 5.02.01 Pre-engineered or pre-assembled metal structures. The Planning Commission would like to recommend changes to read that on less than 2 acres 600 square feet be the maximum, 2-5 acres a maximum of 2,000 square feet, and on 5+ acres an additional of 1,000 square feet per additional 5 acres.
ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
There being no additional business, Nathan Serritt made the motion to adjourn. Jerry Lovelace seconded the motion. All voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
