GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION MINUTES
DECEMBER 18, 2012


The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the Agenda and made no changes or deletions. Three items were added to the Agenda later in the meeting.

Mr. Jim Dodd, City Council member with the City of Fairmount, spoke to the Board regarding additional reallocation of LOST funds for the City of Fairmount. There was a consensus of the Board to add this item to the Agenda and to include the City of Resaca in the additional reallocation of LOST funds.

County Attorney Smith advised the Board that she had discussed several requested changes to the Gordon County Animal Control Ordinance with Animal Control Director Sue Henson. After their review of concerns and requests for changes from citizens, she and Ms. Henson are presenting three recommendations for amendment to the current animal control ordinance. There was a consensus of the Board to add the amendment to the ordinance for a first reading to the agenda.

Superior Court Judge Shepherd Howell spoke to the Board regarding an increase in the local supplement for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit judges. Judge Howell requested an increase to $32,300 from $20,000, with Bartow County funding 64.5% and Gordon County funding 35.5%. There was a consensus of the Board to send a letter to State Representative Meadows in support of his introducing local legislation recommending this increase.

County Administrator Dowling advised the Board that the Hospital Authority Board is requesting the Board of Commissioners send a letter to the Hospital Board recommending the re-appointment of David Hammond for a three year term ending 12/31/2015. There was a consensus of the Board to add this item to the agenda.

Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded and all voted aye.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
