Public Notice for 2013 Municipal General Election for the City of Calhoun
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-132 and O.C.G.A. 21-2-9 (b) a municipal general election will be held for the City of Calhoun on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the Calhoun Recreation Department located at 601 River Street, Calhoun, Georgia from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Qualifying for the municipal general election shall be held at the Calhoun City Hall located at 226 S. Wall Street, Calhoun, Georgia, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 and ending at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013. Those positions that are up for election are:
Council Post #3-Incumbent Matt Barton-Qualifying Fee $144.00
Council Post #4-Incumbent David Hammond-Qualifying Fee $144.00
School Board Post #1-Incumbent Amy Atkinson-Qualifying Fee $1.00
School Board Post #2-Incumbent Rhoda Washington-Qualifying Fee $1.00
School Board Post #3-Incumbent David Scoggins-Qualifying Fee $1.00
Early voting will begin and absentee ballots will be available at the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office on Monday, October 14, 2013. Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The last day to cast your ballot early or to request an absentee ballot is Friday, November 1, 2013. The Gordon County Board of Elections Office is located in the Gordon County Annex Building at 101 S. Piedmont Street, Calhoun, Georgia. For more information call 706 629-7781.
The last day to register to vote for the municipal general election is Monday, October 7, 2013. Registration is available at the Gordon County Board of Elections Office, City Hall or other locations as required by Georgia Law.
