On December 20, 2018, uniformed personnel from almost every city/county public safety agency as well as state agencies took part in the annual Santa in Uniform Day.
The public safety agencies escorted many children to Home Depot to visit and have their photos taken with Santa. The uniformed personnel then escorted the children with lights and sirens to Wal-Mart where they shopped with one or more uniformed personnel.
Santa in Uniform began several years ago when Gordon County Fire Fighter Marshall Greene presented the idea to the Fire Chief. Money is raised all year long from fundraisers such as the annual rodeo, bbq plate sales, and other outside organizations giving toward the cause.
