2/16/10 Work Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Administration Building Conference Room.

Chairman Long called the meeting to order.

The Board discussed each item on the Agenda for the Regular Meeting and made no changes.

Mr. Chris Mockett with the Church of Latter Day Saints came before the Board and advised that his group wished to have the Board sign a proclamation for their Day of Service on Saturday April 24th beginning at 9:00 a.m. He also announced to the Board that his group is offering their services to Gordon County wherever they might be needed, and/or any needs in the County from churches, charitable organizations or others for that day or longer if need be.

Mr. Ron Free, a past Commissioner and Chairman of the Board of the Gordon County Board of Commissioners, spoke to the Board with his concerns regarding the County’s budget, the Board’s decision to cut employee benefits, and the County’s potential plans for building, maintaining and running a proposed State Park at the Resaca Battlefield site.

Commissioner Gordon made a motion to go into Executive Session for potential litigation. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. Executive Session began at 6:25 p.m.

Commissioner Gordon made a motion to go back into the Work Session. Commissioner Bailey seconded and all voted aye. Executive Session adjourned at 6:45 p.m.

Commissioner Bailey made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Gordon seconded and all voted aye.

There being no further business, the Work Session adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
