On December 22, 2014, uniformed personnel from almost every city/county public safety agency as well as state agencies took part in the 3rd annual Santa in Uniform Day.
The public safety agencies escorted 49 children to Home Depot to visit and have their photos taken with Santa. The uniformed personnel then escorted the children with lights and sirens to Wal-Mart where they shopped with one or more uniformed personnel.
Santa in Uniform began over three years ago when Gordon County Fire Fighter Marshall Greene presented the idea to the Fire Chief. Money is raised all year long with the largest amount of funds coming from the annual rodeo.
“I would like to thank all of the public safety personnel that has helped in this year’s Santa in Uniform program. Today’s success was no accident; it was a culmination of several years of hard work. It is because of your [the public safety personnel] hard work and unwavering dedication to your community that the families helped today, can breathe a little easier this holiday season. To all of Santa’s helpers, thank you and Merry Christmas!” – Marshall Greene
