6/07/11 Work Session Minutes
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes. One item was added to the agenda during the meeting.
Mr. Duwayne Coleman and Mr. Greg Hood with the Georgia Department of Transportation came before the Board to discuss the State Route 53 roadway and the State’s assertion that the existing State Route 53 should appropriately operate under local jurisdiction once the South Calhoun Bypass is opened to traffic. The Georgia DOT is asking that the County approve and sign an acceptance resolution for the current State Route 53. Mr. Greg Hood also discussed the projects listed on the State Transportation Improvement Program.
The Board discussed the re-appointment of Kenny Padgett and Jane Powers Weldon to the Historic Preservation Commission. There was a consensus of the Board to add this item to the agenda.
Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the Work Session until after the Regular Meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. Work Session adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
Following the Regular Meeting, the Board reconvened the Work Session and discussed the draft SPLOST Agreement between Gordon County and the cities of Calhoun, Resaca, Fairmount, and Plainville.
Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
