7/06/10 Work Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building

Chairman Long called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

The Board discussed each item on the Agenda and made no changes, additions, or deletions.

The Board discussed meeting times and location for future Regular Meetings. An ordinance amendment setting time and place was on the Agenda for a first reading. There was a consensus of the Board to change the amendment to the ordinance to hold Regular Meetings the first Tuesday in the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building; and to hold Regular Meetings the third Tuesday in the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.

Representatives from several agricultural agencies spoke to the Board regarding Gordon County buying or building a facility to house all the federal agricultural agencies of the County in the same location. Following a lengthy discussion regarding the County’s obtaining the funding and housing all of the offices in one location then being reimbursed from the federal government for part of the cost of annual debt payments, there was a consensus of the Board to move forward with a letter of interest to USDA for a 5,500 sq. ft. building.

Commissioner Bailey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
