8/02/11 Work Session Minutes

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held a Work Session Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room of the Administration Building.

Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.

Mr. Ed Painter came before the Board to discuss re-alignment of the 9th congressional district in order to form a district that has natural geographic features, follows transportation corridors, and makes the district more compact with almost no disruption of boundaries. Mr. Painter asked the Board to approve a resolution in support of modification of the boundaries of the 9th district or the creation of a new congressional district comprised of Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Polk, Walker and Whitfield counties. There was a consensus to include the Resolution on the Regular Meeting Agenda for Board consideration.

The Board discussed each item on the agenda and made no changes.

Commissioner Hood made a motion to adjourn the Work Session. Commissioner Steward seconded the motion and all voted aye.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
