8/16/11 Regular Session Minutes
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners held their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Administration Building.
Chairman Bailey called the meeting to order.
INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Invocation was led by Rev. John Allen and the pledge of allegiance was led by Chairman Bailey.
WELCOME
Chairman Bailey welcomed everyone to the meeting.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Bailey asked if there were any additions, omissions, or deletions to the Minutes for the Work Session August 2, 2011, and the Regular Meeting August 2, 2011. Commissioner Steward made a motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Long seconded the motion and all voted aye. Minutes approved.
ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
Administrator Dowling read the report.
COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT
Commissioner Long thanked staff and fellow commissioners for the way we’ve all pulled together and gotten through the last year with the economy being what it’s been.

CONSIDERATION OF OLD BUSINESS

CONSIDERATION OF NEW BUSINESS
- RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE MCDANIEL STATION ROAD/SR53 INTERSECTION
Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is a resolution for the Board to accept the McDaniel Station Road/SR53 Intersection. This was a State D.O.T. project to improve the intersection, it was a great safety project and is now finished and is now ready for the County to accept back its ownership of McDaniel Station Road. Commissioner Long made a motion to approve the resolution accepting ownership of McDaniel Station Road intersection with SR53. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and Commissioners Long, Hood, and Steward voted aye. Motion passed.
- APPOINTMENT TO GORDON COUNTY BOARD OF TAX ASSESSORS
Administrator Dowling advised the Board that this is an appointment to the Gordon County Board of Tax Assessors for a six-year term ending 6/30/2017. Chairman Bailey advised that Mr. Frank Sullivan has expressed an interest in being appointed to that board. He has talked with the other members and understands the commitment that he is making. This also comes with the recommendation from the Board of Assessors, as well as the County Tax Assessor, Ashley O’Donald. Commissioner Steward made a motion to appoint Frank Sullivan to the Board of Tax Assessors. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and Commissioners Long, Steward, and Hood voted aye. Motion passed.

Commissioner Long made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Hood seconded the motion and all voted aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
