On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Gordon County received the following update from Comcast concerning the Broadband Project:
Dear Gordon County Commission,
We are excited to announce that construction to connect Gordon County has officially begun and are looking forward to connecting the families and businesses throughout the county.
At present, we are still working internally to provide a repository of addresses that will be serviceable in the Gordon Community through the xfinity.com/MyTown, and we thank you for your patience throughout this process. In the meantime, we are working with our marketing team to create content that Gordon County can post to their website to help inform constituents.
We would also like to provide you with additional updates to share as you see fit. Construction has officially begun in Housing Boundary 1, and once completed, will move to Housing Boundary 2 (maps attached). In an attempt to provide context for residents, we have also attached descriptions of the general area of the boundaries based on businesses, landmarks, and roads in Gordon County:
Housing boundary 1 is located northbound of I-75 and includes its Northbound Rest Area. Highway 41 also runs northbound through the boundary and the boundary is located approximately 1.4 miles directly south of the Adairsville Buc-ees. Businesses and landmarks located within the boundary include: CFL Flooring, Momeni Inc. The boundary is located near (<1 mile), but DOES NOT include Salem Baptist Church, Walden Haulin, Magnolia Underdecks, Smith Equipment, and LX Hausys America, Gordon County Fence, Hometown True Value.
Other references for housing coverage: The northwestern corner begins on Darby Rd and continues south to US 41 and heads east at Johnson Rd. The Housing also includes Sprin Hill Rd and continues along Trimble Hollow Rd and ends about 0.5 miles south of Bearden Lake Rd.
Housing boundary 2 is located approximately 0.55 miles north of Magnolia Creek Farms and Highway 140 (east/westbound). Businesses and landmarks within the boundary include Plain View Baptist Church, Erwin Hill Church, and, in the northeastern “bulb” portion of the boundary, Pop’s Pride BBQ and North Georgia Surveying. The boundary is located near (<1 mile), but DOES NOT include Alumbaugh Custom Cabinetry, Jula Fields, Thomas Concrete and Mini Rd SE area.
Other references for borders of the boundary: Southwestern corner of boundary begins just above Siniard Rd and Green Loop Rd cuts northbound through the middle of the boundary. Other roads part of this housing are: Aspen Way, Dempsey Loop Rd, E Plainview Rd, Dutton Community Rd, Blalock Rd, and Erwin Hill Rd.
Lastly, we have met with and been reaching out to potential community partners, including Gordon County 4-H, to identify potential Lift Zone opportunities and other community engagement initiatives following project completion.
Thank you again for your continued support, please let us know if you have any additional questions and we will address them as best we can.
Thanks,
Atiyah Kennedy
