The four Superior Court Judges appoint the Judge of the Juvenile Court that is a branch of the Superior Court for a four-year term. The Juvenile Court is responsible for hearing juvenile delinquency cases, child abuse and neglect cases, and juvenile traffic offense cases. In addition, the Judge of the Juvenile Court is the chairman of the Child Abuse Protocol, which is an organization that attempts to have all child abuse cases reported and prosecuted.


AT THIS TIME, THE LISTED CASES ON THE ATTACHED CALENDAR ARE PUBLIC HEARINGS.  THE PARTIES, FOSTER PARENTS, AND CHILDREN SUBJECT OF THE PROCEEDING will have access through their attorney or GAL. ALL OTHERS requesting access (telephone group call, live-stream, digital video or audio) must contact the Executive Director of the Juvenile Court at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of the hearing and make arrangements to view the proceedings. PLEASE NOTE:  ONLY the parties and their attorneys should participate, all others should be muted throughout the hearing unless specifically called upon to speak by the Court.

The official transcript of the proceedings will be kept by the Clerk. There are to be no unauthorized recordings, retransmission of any part of any proceeding, or any disruption of proceedings that violates court procedure. Offenders could be subject to contempt including the exclusion for proceedings, fines, and imprisonment.

THIS HEARING is held subject to the judicial emergency rules issued by the Supreme Court of Georgia, and the Gordon County Juvenile Court. Special rules apply, including the service, notice, waiver of physical appearance, and remote swearing of witnesses, and objections by the parties shall be made and ruled upon at the outset of the hearing.
