Fire-Rescue Hosts Fourth Annual Calhoun Rodeo
Gordon County Fire-Rescue has teamed with The Southern Rodeo Company to bring the fourth annual Calhoun Rodeo to the Northwest Regional Fairgrounds this Friday, July 20 and Saturday July 21. This is a great event for some good ol’ clean family fun.
“At Christmas, our firefighters have been sponsoring the children of one or two random families who needed assistance with Christmas gifts. The problem was the firefighters were giving monetarily; however, they didn’t get the reward of seeing the result of their giving,” said Asst. Fire Chief Byron Sutton. “One of our firefighters brought to our attention a program he had been involved with at a previous department. We visited his former department at Christmas time last year and helped them with their program so we could see what all was involved. We were immediately hooked. The program is called “Santa in Uniform.” The program gives us the opportunity to interact with the kids and we get to see the fruits of our labor. We get to see their little faces light up! That alone makes every effort we put forth all year long for this program worth all the sweat and time.”
We invite everyone to come out and enjoy and evening of wholesome fun and entertainment. Firefighters will be there handling concessions and other functions. All the proceeds we receive will go to our Santa in Uniform program, so come out and help us give back to our community! We firefighters are looking forward and can’t wait for Christmas this year!!
Gates open at 6 p.m., and tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children, and little ones age 5 and under are free.
