Library Modernization and Expansion (joint project with Calhoun)

Gordon County and the City of Calhoun have begun to expand and modernize the sole library in Gordon County. The library is operated and managed by the Northwest Georgia Regional Library System (NGRLS) which serves Gordon, Whitfield, and Murray Counties but the building is owned and maintained by the City of Calhoun. The library’s operation is funded 65% by Gordon County and 35% by the City of Calhoun. NGRLS and Calhoun have hired Killian Clark Architects (Ringgold, Georgia) to design and supervise the construction of this expansion project. The cost of this project is $1,050,000 – $400,000 from Gordon County SPLOST-2012, $400,000 from the City of Calhoun SPLOST-2012, and $250,000 from the state. Completion in mid 2013.
