Now Hiring: Building Inspector

Gordon County Government is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Building Inspector to assist the Chief Building Official in the daily operation of the Building and Planning Department of Gordon County. This position will also assist in the inspection of residential, commercial, and industrial construction with reference to structural stability, electrical wiring, plumbing, and heating and cooling installations. Responsible for inspection of mobile home setups. Responsible for enforcing other ordinances as assigned to the department. The applicant should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or similar related field preferred. The applicant should also have at least five (5) years in building, construction, installation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC or similar systems, building inspection, construction plans review, or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must possess and maintain a minimum of the following: ICC Residential inspector, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1B inspector or be able to obtain within six (6) months of employment. Must possess and maintain a minimum of the following; ICC Mechanical Inspector, ICC Plumbing Inspector, ICC Electrical inspector or be able to obtain with twelve (12) months of employment.
