Gordon County is currently accepting applications for a court administrative position. This position will be responsible for data entry, clerking and courtroom services. Duties will include but not limited to the determination of legal sufficiency of pleadings to be filed, coordination of lawyer and guardian appointment to cases, supervision of compliance with court orders, scheduling, filing, drafting order and distribution of court-related documents. Must serve as Juvenile Court Intake Officer one (1) to two (2) weeks per month, during this period must be available to law enforcement officials or child welfare officials twenty-four (24) hour a day through after-hours telephone and internet connection. The ideal candidate must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written; to positively interact with the public, other agencies and officials, and attorneys, individually and in the courtroom, who are often in stressful situations; have the ability to deal effectively with juveniles and adults charged with serious offenses, children who have been abused or neglected, work independently with minimal supervision; and have the ability to make fair and impartial decisions.
This position is full time, forty (40) hours per week. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and all other such times as required for compliance with legal or assigned duties. Minimum education requirements are an Associate’s Degree from a qualified college or university. Experience with computer entry and document preparation is required, both from forms and drafting original documents. Prior work (1+ years) with attorneys and court systems is strongly preferred, and familiarity with available local social service and court resources is a plus. Salary $35K+.
A second administrative position, with the same qualifications, is being sought for an employee to assume administrative duties with both the court and with the Gordon County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Familiarity and/or experience with the National or Georgia CASA is preferred for the second position.
