PUBLIC NOTICE FROM PROBATE JUDGE JOHN R. (RICHIE) PARKER
Due to the unfortunate passing of Mr. James Carver, the office of Gordon County Coroner has been left vacant. Under OCGA §45-16-2, it is the task of the Probate Court Judge to appoint a qualified person to serve out the unexpired term of the vacant coroner’s office. There have been several applications submitted to my office, which has given me a great deal to consider in such a short period of time. Due to the immediate necessity for such a vital office to be filled, and after considering all
interested applicants, the decision has been made to appoint Jeremiah “Bo” Nicholson to serve out the unexpired term of coroner until the voters of Gordon County can elect a candidate in 2024. Having served as Deputy Coroner for fifteen (15) years, and having acquired the necessary certifications to serve in the capacity of Coroner, his appointment seems to provide the most seamless manner in which to continue to serve the citizens of Gordon County. An order verifying said appointment shall be signed, and an oath of office shall then be taken by Mr. Nicholson. Please join me in mourning the passing of Mr. Carver, while congratulating Mr. Nicholson as he steps into this new role.
