Temporary Emergency Moratorium

At their Regular Meeting on Tuesday evening, February 21, 2017, the Gordon County Board of Commissioner’s voted to enact a temporary emergency moratorium on the acceptance of applications for zoning approvals, building permits, land disturbance permits, and any approvals or permits regarding new commercial poultry operations or the expansion of existing commercial poultry operations.  This is a 60-day moratorium to give the commissioners time to review the current ordinance concerning commercial poultry operations.  The Board will hold public hearings concerning this issue in the near future to hear remarks from both sides of the issue.

The temporary moratorium will not affect anyone who has filed paperwork and applications for a permit to build chicken houses before February 21, 2017.
